Vol. 80 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - A Bacon Marketing Pool.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether any proposal has been made to him for the establishment of a bacon marketing pool to which curers in Eire would sell their output and which would market bacon on the home and/or foreign market, and, if so, whether he will ensure that any such proposal in so far as it is designed to cater for the home market should not result in the exploitation of consumers of bacon in this country and in profiteering by the curers.

No proposal of the nature indicated in the Deputy's question has been received.

And if it is received, or if it reaches the Minister's Department, are we to assume that it will not receive favourable consideration?

I should imagine not. I have not examined it.
