Vol. 81 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cultivation of Government Controlled Lands.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in respect of each county the area of (a) arable, and (b) non-arable land in the possession or under the immediate control of the Board of Works; and if he will state further the percentage of the arable land in each case which was tilled in the year 1940, and the percentage which it is proposed to bring under tillage in 1941.

The particulars are in the form of a tabular statement which will be circulated in the Official Report.

Tabular statement is as follows:—

COIMISINERI NA NOIBREACHA POIBLIDHE.

Statement showing in respect of each County the area of (a) Arable and (b) Non-Arable land in the possession or under the immediate control of the Commissioners of Public Works, and the percentage of the Arable land in each County which was tilled in the year 1940, and the percentage which it is proposed to bring under tillage in the year 1941.

It will be observed that two Park properties are included in the Statement, viz., The Bourn Vincent Memorial Park, County Kerry, and The Longmeadows Estate, County Dublin. At the Bourn Vincent Memorial Park, County Kerry, besides the maintenance of a large herd of prize cattle, a considerable area of land is under cultivation.
