Vol. 81 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Comparative Prices for Milk.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he can state the comparative prices for milk in Dublin, Belfast and London as paid by the consumer in September, 1939, October, 1940, and February, 1941, and also the comparative price paid to the producers for milk marketed by them in the above mentioned cities.

The maximum prices payable to producers for milk marketed by them in Dublin are contained in orders made under the Milk (Regulation of Supply and Price) Act, 1936. These orders may be consulted in the Library of the House. I have no special information in regard to prices paid by consumers in Dublin, which are not controlled by my Department, and as regards prices paid by consumers or prices paid to producers for milk marketed in Belfast and London, the factors affecting milk prices in these two cities differ so much from those applying in Dublin that any comparison of the kind the Deputy suggests would serve no useful purpose.
