Vol. 81 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Meals.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the names of local authorities who have adopted the provisions of the School Meals Act, and the expenditure thereunder in the last financial year for which the figures are readily available.

A tabular statement showing the areas in which county borough, borough, and urban district councils and town commissioners provided school meals under the Education (Provision of Meals) Acts, 1914 to 1930, in the year ended the 31st March, 1940, will be circulated with the official report. The School Meals (Gaeltacht) Acts authorise the provision of meals for children attending schools in certain rural areas in the Gaeltacht scheduled in the Act of 1930. Particulars for the same period are also included in the statement in respect of such areas.
