Vol. 82 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal Supplies.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that families of members of the Defence Forces and others evacuated from the Curragh to Newbridge and other towns are unable to secure supplies of coal under the present rationing scheme because they are not recognised as customers by local suppliers, and if he will take the necessary measures to ensure that supplies of coal will be made available to such families in future.

From inquiries made since receipt of the Deputy's question, I have ascertained that the position in regard to coal supplies of the families of members of the Defence Forces evacuated from the Curragh is substantially as stated by the Deputy. No individual complaint in that respect has been received. If the individuals concerned communicate either with me or with the Minister for Supplies, their complaints will be investigated.
