Vol. 82 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - A Kilrush Allotment.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is aware that Mrs. Catherine Kean, St. Patrick's Terrace, Kilrush, County Clare, requested permission from the local authority to cultivate the plot which, last year, was cultivated by her husband, Stephen Kean, and was informed that she will be required to pay a rent of £3 for the allotment, although it was rented to her husband in the previous year at 1/-, and whether he will represent to the local authority that this woman, whose husband has joined the Defence Forces and who has a family of eight depending on her, is not in a position to pay a rental of £3.

I understand that no charge of £3 was made for an allotment by the urban district council. The maximum rent which would be chargeable would be £1 4s. 8d.
