Vol. 82 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplementary Petrol Ration.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he could see his way to allot a supplementary ration of petrol to country dispensary doctors, veterinary surgeons with rural practices, country auctioneers and country clergymen as the present allocations are very inadequate for their minimum requirements.

Petrol allowances to doctors, veterinary surgeons and clergymen are granted on a uniform basis and it is not possible to increase these allowances under existing circumstances to particular members of these professions. Allowances of petrol cannot at present be granted to auctioneers. If the supply position should improve sufficiently I will give special and sympathetic consideration to the Deputy's suggestion.
