Vol. 83 No. 5

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Scheduling of Reception Area.

asked the Minister for the Co-ordination of Defensive Measures if he will say when Naas urban district was scheduled as a reception area for evacuees from the City of Dublin; whether due consideration was given to the fact that the proximity of this area to the city and the Curragh constitutes it a danger zone and therefore unsuitable for evacuees, and if he will reconsider the decision and exclude Naas from the list of reception areas.

The reception area for the purposes of the scheme for the evacuation of certain classes of the civilian population from Dublin City and Dun Laoghaire Borough was determined early this year. In delimiting the area my Department was guided by the views of the military authorities, who did not consider that Naas urban district should be excluded therefrom. It is not intended to alter by way of reduction the extent of the area unless at the instance of the military authorities.
