Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Prosecutions for Overcharging.

asked the Minister for Supplies whether he will state the number of persons prosecuted for overcharging and profiteering in the period between September 3rd, 1939, and May 24th, 1941 (or the latest date for which such figures are available); the number of such persons convicted and the total amount of the fines and penalties imposed.

The number of persons against whom legal proceedings were instituted in respect of offences under Control of Prices Orders in the period between 3rd September, 1939, and May 24th, 1941, was four. Convictions were obtained in three of these cases. The total amount of the fines imposed was £3 7s. 6d.
