Vol. 84 No. 2

Committee on Finance. - Gaeltacht Services.

I move:—

That a sum not exceeding £10 be granted to make good an excess on the grant for Gaeltacht Services for the year ended 31st March, 1940.

The main excess on this Vote arose on sub-head D (8) — Materials — and amounted to £2,302 1s. 5d. An account for materials, which it had been anticipated would not fall due for payment within the financial year, matured before the end of that year. The remainder of the excess was due partly to casual variation in other subheads, and partly to the need for making provision in respect of compensation for furniture and clothing destroyed by fire when the toy factory at Elly Bay was burned during the month of November, 1938.
