Vol. 84 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplies of Ammunition.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state if supplies of ammunition have yet been obtained from America, and if a promise to resist invasion by Germany was made a condition precedent to delivery.

With regard to the first part of the question, I refer the Deputy to the reply which I have just given. With regard to the second part of the question, I have no indication— apart from Press reports—that deliveries of American ammunition to this country would be in any way dependent on the condition suggested by the Deputy; and, as our determination to resist attack in all circumstances has been many times repeated and made abundantly clear, it is difficult to see what would be the object of such a condition.
