Vol. 84 No. 17

Written Answer. - Conditions of Employment on Bere Island.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that persons with adequate means of living from other sources are employed on Bere Island, while persons capable of doing the work are idle and without other means of support, and if he will have an inquiry made into such cases as the Minister has been made aware of, and if they are found to be correct will he make some adjustment so as to obviate the dissatisfaction about employment which now exists on the island.

Investigation of the cases in which particulars have been furnished to me by the Deputy will take some time. I will communicate with the Deputy when the investigation has been completed.
