Vol. 84 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killarney Mental Hospital.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the inquiry on oath held by his inspector at the boardroom of Killarney Mental Hospital on Tuesday, May 20th, into the suspension of two mental hospital attendants was held in camera notwithstanding the protests of the solicitor representing the attendants concerned; and whether he is aware that the notice summoning the two attendants concerned did not state that the inquiry was to be in private.

There is no statutory obligation to hold any such inquiry in public, and the decision not to hold it in public was accordingly a matter within the discretion of the inspector of mental hospitals.
