Vol. 84 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Official Advertisements.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state why the Southern Star newspaper, Skibbereen, was not asked to insert official advertisements regarding kerosene notice, and notice to sugar wholesalers, notice to sugar retailers, and notice regarding certain food prices, which appeared in the provincial weekly newspapers on August 23rd and 30th, and whether he will have this omission rectified when publishing similar advertisements in future.

Official advertisements are inserted in the publications which, in my opinion, are best likely to achieve the maximum publicity at the minimum cost for the particular matter advertised. The proprietors of the Southern Star newspaper have made a direct approach to my Department in this matter, and I have already communicated my decision to them.
