Vol. 84 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Claims for Bomb Damage.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of claims for compensation for personal injury received by him arising out of the bombing attacks in (a) Dublin, (b) elsewhere, the number of such claims which have been entertained and paid and the average sum paid in each case.

I have received 12 claims in respect of personal injury arising out of the bombing in Dublin and 10 claims attributable to bombing elsewhere in Ireland. Application forms under the scheme which I have made under the Emergency Powers (No. 98) Order 1941, have been dispatched to the claimants but sufficient details have not yet been obtained to allow of any payments being made.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, is he in a position to state whether persons who lost relatives on Irish ships which were bombed by German aeroplanes are free to claim under that scheme for compensation?

I would like notice of that question.
