Vol. 84 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Feeding Stuffs for Cattle.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the falling-off in the export of store cattle, he will state the arrangements which have been made or are in contemplation to provide feeding stuffs for the surplus cattle which it will be necessary to feed indoor within the next few months.

As I have stated on many occasions in the past year, there is no likelihood that imported feeding stuffs will be available during the coming winter. Stock owners have been repeatedly advised that they must rely mainly on the foods produced on their own farms. The quantity of homegrown grain available for sale for stock feeding will be limited, but crop reports indicate that abundant supplies of fodder and roots will be available on practically all farms.
