Vol. 85 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.

There are 57 questions on the Order Paper. Replies to questions not reached before 4 o'clock will be inserted in the Official Report.

Might I suggest to you, Sir, that as the House has met so infrequently, a slightly longer period might be reserved for questions, which are perhaps the most important part of our proceedings?

Deputies might bear in mind that Standing Order 32, which allows half an hour for questions, has not been abrogated. Twenty-five or 30 questions used normally be dealt with in 30 minutes. If Deputies exercise moderation in their supplementaries in respect to the number and length of same, it should be possible to finish questions in an hour.

I would plead, Sir, for a little indulgence seeing that there is a possibility that the House may not sit again for a fortnight.

He will stop the drop.

Possibly, but it will depend on the wisdom of Deputies.

And of Ministers.
