Vol. 85 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Congestion in Mayo.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that acute congestion exists in the townlands of Ballyglass, Clooncara, Icelaun, Crenane and Ragerolich in the parish of Kilmovee, South Mayo, where there are over 30 tenants whose poor law valuations are under £5 each, and if he will now state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Land Commission to acquire the Brooklawn farm for the relief of the acute congestion existing in the parish of Kilmovee.

The Land Commission are aware of the congestion existing in the neighbourhood to which the Deputy refers and they have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of the lands of Mr. John Gallagher in the townland of Ishlaun. The owner objected to acquisition and his objection is pending before the Land Commission.
