Vol. 85 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maintenance of Unemployed.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he received a resolution passed at a conference of the municipal authorities of Ireland in September, 1941, urging the passage of legislation to compel ground landlords to provide portion of the cost presently borne by certain local authorities for the maintenance of unemployed, and if he will now state what action, if any, he has taken or proposes taking concerning same.

I have received a request from the executive committee of the Association of Municipal Authorities to receive a deputation to discuss the resolutions adopted at the annual conference of the association. I hope to be able to arrange this, and in the meantime I am not in a position to make any statement in regard to the matter contained in the Deputy's question.
