Vol. 85 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pollard and Bran for Live-Stock Feeding.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, as an additional inducement to mixed tillage and live-stock farmers to put more of their land under wheat this year, he will formulate a scheme, similar to the beet pulp arrangement of the Irish Sugar Manufacturing Company, under which farmers could have some of the pollard and bran from their wheat returned to them for pig and cattle feeding.

As the present extraction of flour from wheat amounts to 100 per cent., no pollard or bran is being produced.

If we have sufficient wheat to give us a wheat loaf, will we not have bran and pollard?

We shall have to consider the position then.
