Vol. 86 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Subsidy on Fertiliser.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the amount of subsidy per ton paid on the compound fertiliser.

No subsidy is payable this season in respect of any artificial fertilisers.

Will the Minister say why he has departed from the practice of subsiding fertilisers, particularly in view of the present high price of compound fertiliser, and its doubtful value?

There is no necessity to induce farmers this year to purchase fertilisers. They are not there.

But does not the Minister agree that there is a necessity to see that whatever fertilisers are there would be made available at least at a fair price?
