Vol. 86 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Forestry Workers.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he will now take steps to increase the wages of forestry workers, in view of the substantial increase in prices which has taken place, and in view of the recent determination of the Agricultural Wages Board to increase as from April 6th the wages of agricultural workers.

In the matter of pay, the position of forestry labourers is bound up with that of all workers in Government employment and is therefore not a matter for decision by my Department. Decisions of the Agricultural Wages Board are taken into account in fixing the wages to be paid to forestry and other workers.
