Vol. 86 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Broadcasting Station Appointment.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if it is his intention to fill the vacancy for the position of Musical Director at the Dublin Broadcasting Station; and, if so, if he will state if the position will be filled by competitive examination, or by Departmental interview, or both; if a knowledge of Irish will be essential; and when a decision will be announced.

It is intended to fill the vacant musical directorship and the whole matter is at present under very careful consideration. The Deputy may rest assured that, in making an appointment, the interests of the national language will receive every consideration, but musical competency must, of course, be the dominating factor.

Will the Minister say if any steps have been taken to fill the vacancy?
