Vol. 86 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Whiskey Stocks.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the gallonage of whiskey at present in bond, and the number of gallons in bond of (a) five years old and under, (b) from five to six years old, (c) from six to seven years old, (d) over seven years old; and, if the Minister is unable to give exact details, whether he will give an estimate of the details required; also to state the withdrawals from bond of whiskey during each three-months period of the last two years; and if he will further state the years in which whiskey was distilled recently in this country, and the quantity distilled in each year since 1936.

The publication of detailed statistics of the kind covered by the question has been suspended since the outbreak of the emergency for reasons of public policy. It would be contrary to the general policy so adopted for me to supply any of the particulars now requested by the Deputy. It may be stated, however, that the stocks of whiskey held are sufficient to meet home requirements for a considerable time.
