Vol. 86 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Health Insurance Income.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state (1) the contribution income of the National Health Insurance Fund for the year ended 31st December, 1941, (2) the amount of the income derived from payments in respect of members of the Defence Forces, (3) the estimated average weekly number of persons employed as derived from the contribution income, and (4) the average weekly number of persons as derived from that part of the income received in respect of members of the Defence Forces.

(1) The contribution income of the National Health Insurance Fund for the year ended 31st December, 1941 was £719,345 18s. 10d.; (2) The amount of the income derived from payments in respect of members of the Defence Forces was £37,943 13s. 3d.; (3) The estimated average weekly number of persons employed in civilian employment as derived from the contribution income was 402,000; (4) The average weekly number of persons as derived from that part of the income received in respect of members of the Defence Forces was 38,916.

Am I correct in taking it that 38,000 odd is included in the 402,000?

I am not sure. I will look into that and let the Deputy know.
