Vol. 86 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Exchange of Maynooth Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the cause of the delay in effecting the transfer to the Land Commission of the college lands at Newtown, Maynooth, County Kildare, in exchange for the Chamberlain lands at Crew Hill, Maynooth, which were given to the college authorities.

The Land Commission are acquiring the lands of Newtown, Greenfield, and college-land from the trustees of Maynooth College, but as proof of title was not completed in time to take possession of the lands this spring, acquisition has been deferred until the autumn. Meanwhile, a letting has been made to the college authorities of the holding on the Chamberlain estate which they are getting in exchange.

Would the Minister say whether the Newtown land will be taken in the autumn and divided?

The intention is to take possession about the 1st November next.

And divide the lands then?
