asked the Minister for Supplies if he is in a position to state why home-produced anthracite or firewood is not being used more extensively for the purpose of driving railway locomotives.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fuel for Railway Locomotives.
I understand from the Great Southern Railways that they are at present using all the home-produced anthracite they can obtain. They railway company is at present using a certain amount of firewood, and have placed orders for further substantial quantities. I am not, however, in a position to state to what extent wood fuel can be used by the company.
