Vol. 87 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Distribution of Tea and Sugar.

asked the Minister for Supplies whether he has received a complaint from Mrs. E. Connolly, Brownstown, Curragh Camp, regarding her inability to obtain her weekly supply of tea and sugar, and if he will indicate what action has been taken in the matter.

I received a complaint from Mrs. E. Connolly, Brownstown, Curragh Camp, regarding her difficulty in obtaining her weekly tea and sugar rations. Investigation of the matter indicated that though the shopkeeper was in a position and willing to supply the due rations Mrs. Connolly withdrew her registration card voluntarily. As Mrs. Connolly has not succeeded in obtaining registration at another shop she may now relodge her registration card with the shopkeeper in question and she has been informed accordingly.

Will the Minister indicate that Mrs. Connolly will, in those circumstances, be entitled to get her tea and sugar ration from this trader?

She will be entitled to get her tea and sugar ration subject to payment.

The trader, I understand, refused to supply Mrs. Connolly with tea and sugar because she questioned the prices which the trader was charging for other commodities.

I do not think those are the facts.

Those are the facts.

I think the Deputy would be well advised to make further inquiries.

The Minister would be well advised to make further inquiries.

I have made full inquiries.
