Vol. 87 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Limerick Embankment Repairs.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that a scheme was submitted to his Department by the Limerick Borough Council, for the repair of the river embankment at Corbally, Limerick, and whether in view of the fact that work of this nature must be carried out in the summer season, when water level is low, he will expedite sanction for the carrying out of this very necessary work.

Proposals for the repair of the river embankment were put forward by the Corporation of Limerick at a time when it was not clear that they were legally empowered to expend any money on the project. Since then, proposals have been made by the corporation to acquire the adjoining land which was liable to be flooded by breaches in the embankment. A revised scheme has been recently submitted for repair work and is at present under consideration. A decision will be given as soon as practicable.
