asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken to provide economic holdings for the tenants in the townlands of Ballyglass, Clooneara, Rageralish, Icelaun and Creenane, Kilmovee, County Mayo, whose poor law valuations are under £5, and if the Land Commission have acquired the lands known as Brooklawn farm, Record No. U4688, for the relief of the acute congestion existing in those townlands.

I have nothing to add at present to the reply given to the Deputy's previous question of 4th March last as to these lands.
asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that acute congestion exists in the townlands of Kilscoghagh and Curraghadoey, Crossboyne, Claremorris, and if he will now state if the Land Commission have acquired, or are about to acquire, the Gortaneeran farm on the Ward estate which contains over 400 acres for the purpose of relieving the existing congestion in those townlands.
Proceedings were instituted by the Land Commission for the resumption of 77 acres, portion of the holding of Joseph P. Mellett in the townlands of Kilscoghagh and Gortaneeran. Objection to resumption was lodged by the tenant and was heard by the Land Commissioners on 22nd January, 1941, when decision was reserved. Judgment was given on 7th May, 1942, allowing the petition in respect of 53 acres of the lands of Kilscoghagh and disallowing the petition in respect of the remainder, comprising 24 acres of the lands of Kilscoghagh.
asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that acute congestion exists in the townland of Crossbeg, Aughamore, County Mayo, and if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken by the Land Commission to acquire the untenanted holdings in that townland for the purpose of providing economic holdings for the tenants whose valuations are under £10.
The Land Commission are aware of the congestion in the townland of Crossbeg and they have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of the lands of Crossbeg owned by John Brennan. The owner objected to acquisition and on hearing his objection, the Land Commission reserved their decision.
