Vol. 88 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Defence Force and Political Parties.

asked the Minister for Defence whether, in view of doubts existing in the matter, he will state whether members of the Local Defence Force are prohibited from becoming members of whatever political party they so desire.

Members of the Local Defence Force are not prohibited from becoming members of whatever political party they so desire but, when engaged in political activities, they must not, of course, wear uniform, or act in any way as members of the forces, but as individual citizens.
