Vol. 88 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Compensation.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the cause of the delay in the payment of compensation to the dependents of Private James Coady, who was killed in a motor accident on the 5th October, 1941.

There is at present no provision in the Army Pensions Acts under which the claim for compensation by the mother of the late Private James Coady can be considered. I have, however, under consideration the question of introducing legislation to amend the Acts to cover claims of this nature, and Mrs. Coady will then be afforded an opportunity of claiming in the light of such amendments to the Acts as may be approved by the Oireachtas.
