Vol. 88 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age and Blind Pension Acts.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will issue instructions to pensions officers and investigation officers under the Old Age Pension and Blind Pension Acts that rents and rates are to be taken into consideration when investigating claims of all applicants under these Acts.

In determining the means of a person for old age pension purposes no deduction may legally be made from the income of that person in respect of any rent or rates paid by him. I do not propose to amend the law in this regard and consequently the question of issuing instructions to the officers does not arise.
