Vol. 88 No. 13

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Potato Supply for Dublin.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether he proposes to make arrangements to secure an adequate supply of potatoes, at a reasonable price, for the City of Dublin during the coming winter and spring, and whether he will make a statement to the Dáil on the matter.

The available information indicates that the quantities of potatoes marketed in Dublin during recent weeks have been greater than in the corresponding period of 1941. There is no reason, so far, to assume that supplies during the coming winter and spring will be inadequate or that prices will be excessive. The position, however, will be kept under review and the question of making special arrangements will be considered should the necessity arise.
