Vol. 88 No. 14

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fuel Situation in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if, in view of the fuel situation in County Dublin, he is prepared to extend the present fuel scheme to the rural areas of County Dublin.

There is not the same difficulty in obtaining fuel in rural areas as in urban areas. In country districts there are quantities of scrub timber which can be cut down. It is not intended to extend the scheme to rural areas. The need for ensuring a supply of winter fuel is greatest in the cities and urban districts in the non-turf areas, and it is in these areas that the distribution of fuel is being authorised.
