As I have indicated on a previous occasion, I cannot undertake to answer questions relating to the administration of Cómhlucht Siúicre Eireann which is an independent company operating under the Companies Acts, the board of the company being responsible for all decisions in regard to the management of the undertaking. I have, however, made inquiries regarding the matter raised in the Deputy's question, and I understand that the Thurles Sugar Factory is not at present in production, because the company have found it necessary to postpone for a short period the commencement of the campaign owing to the present low level of water in the River Suir which does not permit operations being carried out at the factory on an economic basis.
