Vol. 89 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supply of Paraffin for Tractors.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that the owners of tractors in South Mayo have been unable to get paraffin oil in exchange for their coupons, thereby being prevented from carrying out threshing and ploughing operations; and if he will state what is the cause of this failure of supply of paraffin oil.

I am aware that owners of tractors in common with other users of kerosene experienced difficulty in securing their permitted supplies of kerosene in February owing to the non-arrival of expected imports. The stocks have now been replenished and permit holders may obtain the full quantity of kerosene authorised on their permits.

Will the Minister say if this shortage of kerosene was general over the country or was it confined to the County Mayo?

It was general.
