Vol. 89 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shortage of Leather.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that the acute shortage of leather and other requisites required by boot and shoemakers and repairers has caused widespread unemployment amongst such artisans, as well as hardship to the general public; and if he will indicate what further steps he will take to make additional supplies of boot and shoe leather and other requisites available.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a similar question on the 4th of March, last, to which I have at present nothing to add.

Can the Minister give any hope to the artisans and other persons generally concerned in respect of this matter?

If the Deputy reads the rather long reply which I gave on the date I have mentioned, he will find all the information it is possible to give him.

I heard it, and it did not convey very much.
