Vol. 90 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Campaign Against Tuberculosis.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is in a position to state the result of the consultations which were stated in the House on the 28th October, 1942, to be proceeding between the Department and the Dublin Corporation on the question of improving the methods of combating tuberculosis.

The extension and improvement of arrangements for the treatment of persons in Dublin suffering from tuberculosis which have been under consideration include the appointment of a deputy medical superintendent officer of health, the extension of Charles Street Tuberculosis Dispensary, the extension of Rialto Tuberculosis Hospital and the provision of additional accommodation at Crooksling. Measures have also been brought into force from the 1st April last for the grant of free allowances of extra nourishment to patients while they are awaiting admission to institutions or following the discharge after an approved term of institutional treatment, the provision of separate bed and, where necessary, bedding for infective patients receiving domiciliary treatment, and the provision of suitable clothing outfits for necessitous patients undergoing treatment in institutions.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say the number of schemes that have been started?

They are all under way.
