Vol. 91 No. 7

Order of Business.

Business will be as on the Order Paper—No. 1 (Votes 30, 68, and 31).

Will the House sit to-morrow?

That will depend on whether we finish the Estimate for Agriculture and the Estimate for Fisheries.

If the Estimates for Agriculture and Fisheries are finished to-day, there will be no sitting to-morrow. Otherwise the House will sit tomorrow morning.

Perhaps I shall be allowed to put a point to the Minister in this connection. It is a matter which does not affect myself, but which affects Deputies living in distant parts of Kerry, Clare and Donegal. If they have to remain here on Friday, it will mean that they will not get to their homes until late on Saturday night or early on Sunday morning. Could consideration be given to the question of sitting on Tuesday instead of on Friday? So far as the south is concerned, it is only possible to get one train—in the early morning.

As the Deputy is, no doubt, aware, the Government has no enthusiasm for Friday sittings, which are rarely of much value. However, it is necessary to get the financial business finished as soon as possible and that is why it is proposed to sit on Friday. The suggestion that the Dáil should meet on Tuesday, instead of Friday, can be considered if it conforms with the views of the Whips of the different Parties.

I merely raised the point—if it could be considered?

Shall we meet on next Wednesday?

Is the Minister in a position to indicate the business for next Wednesday?

Mainly Estimates.
