Vol. 91 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Damage to Grazing Lands.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will have an immediate re-survey made in order to compensate fully Messrs. J.T. and H. Kelly, Rogerstown House, Ardee, and Patrick Rountree, Reaghstown, Ardee, for injury caused to their grazing lands which were compulsorily acquired under Emergency Powers Order No. 73 by the Louth County Council.

The determination of compensation in the cases referred to by the Deputy is primarily one for settlement between the county council and the owners concerned. If agreement cannot be reached between the parties, provision is made by Article 6 of Emergency Powers (No. 73) Order, 1941 (Amendment) Order, 1941, and Emergency Powers (No. 73) Order, 1941 (Third Amendment) Order, 1942, for the appointment of an arbitrator whose decision on the points at issue is final.
