Vol. 91 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fertility of County Kildare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the fertility of the lands in the townland of Dangan, forming part of the Cloncurry estate, County Kildare, in the possession of the Land Commission, has been seriously impaired as a result of continuous corn production by conacre; and if he will say whether it is the intention of the commissioners to allot holdings on this estate in time for the coming season's sowings.

The question appears to refer to the lands of Dangan, on the Lawless estate, Record No. S.4314, County Kildare. The Land Commission are aware of the tillage conditions on this estate, and they have already reseeded with grass seed mixture portion of the land which it was considered should be restored to grass. Any further reseeding that may be necessary during the current year will be done. As a division scheme for these lands has not yet been prepared, it is not possible at present to state when allotment will take place.
