Vol. 91 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flour Extraction.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he has received the report of the Medical Research Council on the matter of flour extraction; if so, if he has yet considered it and taken a decision on it; and, if not, when he expects to be in a position to make a statement to the House on the matter.

During the recent debate on the Vote for the Department of Local Government and Public Health, I announced that a report on flour extraction had been obtained from the Medical Research Council and that it was receiving the active consideration of the Government. The announcement made a few days ago by the Minister for Supplies, that the extraction from wheat should not exceed, if possible, 85 per cent., accords with the Medical Research Council's report. Other matters dealt with in the report are still under consideration.
