asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that the rent of six houses in Hanley Park, Churchtown, Dundrum, has been increased by the landlord from £84 to £96 per annum, and that rents are being increased by landlords in other portions of the County of Dublin also; and if he will state if he has now sufficient evidence to recommend to the Government the issue of an Emergency Powers Order to prevent the widespread increasing of rents during the emergency period.

I have recently received complaints of increases of rent in a number of cases in the Dundrum district. These complaints, as well as some further complaints which I have received from other parts of the country, are being investigated, and I am not yet in a position to make a definite statement in the matter.
