Vol. 92 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Gas-Producer Lorries.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is prepared to permit all lorries which will be or have been fitted with gas producer plants, to operate without restriction in the various transport services; whether he is aware that the present allocation of petrol for priming purposes is entirely inadequate, and if he will take steps to arrange for an increase in this allocation.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to a similar question on this matter on the 25th ultimo. Having regard to the limited supplies of petrol which are now available for distribution each month, I am not in a position to increase the allowances of petrol which are at present being issued for priming purposes.

Is the Minister aware that in certain areas there is an allowance of 10 gallons per month for priming purposes, whereas in other areas such as Galway the allowance is only two gallons?

The allowance is two gallons everywhere.
