Vol. 92 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Whiskey Supplies.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that, although whiskey distillers are giving to wholesalers 100 per cent. of 1941 purchases, retailers are only receiving 85 per cent. of 1941 purchases, and if he will immediately take steps to regulate the supply, and thus save many shop assistants from being thrown out of employment.

I am not aware that wholesalers generally are withholding supplies of whiskey from retailers, though there are, possibly, isolated instances of this nature. If the Deputy would furnish details of any such cases which may have come to his notice, I would have them investigated. It is not considered necessary to regulate officially the distribution of whiskey supplies.
