Vol. 92 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sugar Ration.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will state (a) the normal annual requirements of sugar for the whole country; and (b) the estimated aggregate production of sugar from the present campaign, and also whether it is now his intention to increase the present ration of sugar.

The country's normal annual pre-war requirements of sugar were 110,000 tons. The estimated aggregate production of sugar from the 1943-44 campaign is 94,000 tons. It would be premature at this stage to consider the question of increasing the existing ration of sugar.
