Vol. 92 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allotment of Meath Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Rudder Estate at Bellewstown, County Meath, and the Scatternagh Estate at Bolies, Duleek, County Meath, are now six years in the hands of the Land Commission; and if he will state what is the delay in having them allotted amongst the many uneconomic holders in the area.

The question apparently refers to the Scott Estate, comprising some 135 acres in the townland of Rudder, and to the Gogarty Estate, comprising some 38 acres in the townland of Scatternagh. The Deputy is not correct in stating that these lands have been six years in the hands of the Land Commission. The Scott Estate was acquired on the 9th December, 1940, and the Gogarty Estate on 2nd December, 1941. Emergency conditions have hampered the resale of these lands and it is not possible at present to state when they will be allotted.
