Vol. 92 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old I.R.A. Medals.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of medals issued to members of the Old I.R.A. under the Act of 1924, and the number under the Act of 1934.

The total number of service medals with bar issued to members of the Old I.R.A. in receipt of pensions under the 1924 Act is 3,004, and under the 1934 Act, 9,636.

Of the above, 382 pensioners under the 1934 Act, and 1,460 under the 1924 Act, have also received the 1916 medal. 282 persons who are not pensioners under either Act, but who would have qualified for the award of a pensionable certificate, if they had applied therefor, also received the 1916 medal.

A total of 5,457 persons have received the service medal without bar.
