Vol. 93 No. 5

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Companies Acts.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that there is growing dissatisfaction with the inadequacy of existing Company Law to prevent exploitation of the public, and whether he proposes to introduce amending legislation to improve and to consolidate the existing law in that respect.

Proposals for the general revision and consolidation of the Companies Acts have been under consideration in my Department for some time, but it is improbable, owing to pressure of more urgent business, that it will be possible to complete such amending legislation while the present emergency continues.

Will the Minister take precautions against the watering of capital in the new Company Law?
